The History of Sonny Fodera
Born in Adelaide, Australia, Sonny Fodera began producing music in his mid-teens, initially creating hip-hop beats. However, after seeing American house DJ Derrick Carter perform in Adelaide, he was inspired to pursue house music.
Fodera began touring internationally at 23, building his reputation through releases on respected house labels. His first albums, Moving Forward and After Parties & Aeroplanes, arrived in 2013 and 2014. He later signed with Defected Records, releasing Frequently Flying in 2016.
In 2017, Fodera launched his own label, Solotoko, providing a platform for his music and emerging dance artists. Fodera’s career continued to grow through major festival appearances, international tours and successful collaborations.
His breakthrough into the mainstream continued with tracks such as “Turn Back Time” with Diplo and “Asking” with MK and Clementine Douglas. His 2024 single “Somedays” was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2025 BRIT Awards.
Today, Fodera is a globally recognised house DJ and producer, known for combining melodic vocals with energetic house production. He has also performed at major festivals and sold out venues including London’s Alexandra Palace and Dublin’s 3Arena.
