Manchester City’s Recent Champions League Form

Manchester City have remained regular contenders in the Champions League, although their recent campaigns have been less successful. Their biggest achievement came in 2022/23, when City finally lifted the trophy for the first time. They defeated Inter Milan 1-0 in the final to complete a historic Treble.

The following season saw City reach the quarter-finals, where Real Madrid eliminated them on penalties after a 4-4 aggregate draw.

City then struggled during the 2024/25 campaign, finishing in the knockout phase play-offs. Real Madrid eventually ended their run after a 6-3 aggregate victory.

Their 2025/26 campaign brought another disappointing early exit. City reached the Round of 16 but were again drawn against Real Madrid. Despite winning 2-1 in Madrid during the first leg, City lost the second leg 2-1 and exited 5-1 on aggregate.

With their Champions League pedigree and a squad packed with European experience, City will be hoping to rediscover their best form. Their ultimate aim will be to challenge for another Champions League final and a second European crown.

Napoli’s Recent Champions League Form

Napoli have enjoyed some strong Champions League campaigns recently, with their best modern run coming in 2022/23. They reached the quarter-finals after winning seven of their ten matches, before AC Milan ended their campaign.

The following 2023/24 campaign saw Napoli reach the Round of 16. However, Barcelona eliminated them after a 4-2 aggregate defeat.

Napoli missed European competition altogether during 2024/25, before returning to the Champions League for the 2025/26 season.

Their 2025/26 League Phase campaign proved challenging, with Napoli recording two wins, two draws and four defeats. They finished with eight points after facing Manchester City, Sporting CP, PSV Eindhoven and Chelsea.

Despite that difficult campaign, Napoli have shown they can compete with Europe’s best. Their impressive 2022/23 quarter-final run provides a strong foundation as they look to progress further in future Champions League campaigns.
