Manchester United’s Recent Champions League Form

Manchester United’s recent Champions League record has been inconsistent compared with their historic European success. In 2021/22, United reached the round of 16, where Atlético Madrid eliminated them 2-1 on aggregate.

However, United missed out on Champions League football in 2022/23, competing in the Europa League instead. They reached the quarter-finals before losing to Sevilla.

United returned to the Champions League in 2023/24, but their campaign ended during the group stage. They finished fourth after winning just one of their six matches.

Their recent struggles contrast with a much stronger European history. United have reached the Champions League final five times, winning three titles in 1968, 1999 and 2008.

The club’s most recent final appearance came in 2011, when Barcelona defeated United at Wembley. They will now hope their return to the Champions League can reignite memories of those successful European campaigns.

Bayern Munich’s Recent Champions League Form

Bayern Munich remain one of Europe’s most consistent Champions League sides, regularly reaching the latter stages. Their recent record highlights that consistency, although another European title has remained elusive.

In 2023/24, Bayern reached the semi-finals, eventually losing to Real Madrid in a dramatic two-legged tie.

The following season saw Bayern reach the quarter-finals, where Inter Milan eliminated them 4-3 on aggregate.

Bayern went one step further again in 2025/26, reaching the semi-finals after impressive victories over Atalanta and Real Madrid. However, PSG ended their campaign with a 6-5 aggregate victory.

Their last Champions League final appearance came in 2019/20, when Bayern completed a perfect campaign. They won all 11 matches, beating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the final to claim their sixth European title.

With three consecutive semi-final appearances across recent campaigns, Bayern remain serious contenders. They will now look to turn their consistent deep runs into another Champions League final and seventh European crown.
