Arsenal’s Recent Champions League Form
Arsenal have steadily improved in the Champions League under Mikel Arteta. After returning to Europe’s elite competition in 2023/24, the Gunners reached the quarter-finals, before losing to Bayern Munich.
The following season brought further progress, with Arsenal reaching the semi-finals in 2024/25. However, eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain ended their campaign at the last-four stage.
Arsenal then went one step further in 2025/26, reaching their first Champions League final since 2006. They produced an exceptional campaign, becoming the first club to win all eight League Phase matches.
The Gunners eventually faced PSG in the final, where they suffered a narrow penalty shootout defeat following a 1-1 draw. Despite missing out on the trophy, Arsenal’s recent European progress has been hugely impressive.
Borussia Dortmund’s Recent Champions League Journey
Borussia Dortmund have enjoyed several strong Champions League campaigns in recent seasons. Their biggest recent achievement came in 2023/24, when they reached the final at Wembley Stadium. However, Real Madrid ultimately defeated Dortmund 2-0 to lift the trophy.
Dortmund followed that impressive run by reaching the quarter-finals in 2024/25. They defeated Lille in the last 16 before facing Barcelona in the quarter-finals. Although Dortmund won the second leg 3-1, Barcelona progressed 5-3 on aggregate.
Therefore, Dortmund arrive for another Champions League campaign with plenty of European pedigree. They have reached the competition’s final three times, winning the trophy in 1997.
